My Experience in BHEL Apprentice Exam 2025 — Paper Review, Difficulty & Expected Cutoff

My Experience in BHEL Apprentice Exam 2025 with Expected Cutoff

The BHEL Apprentice exam is one of the most awaited entry-level opportunities for ITI and diploma candidates in India. I appeared for the BHEL Apprentice Exam in 2025, and in this article I am sharing my real exam experience, paper difficulty, syllabus weightage, and the expected cutoff based on this year’s competition.

Exam Day Experience

I gave the exam at an assigned centre early morning. Verification and seating were smooth but strict — no metal pen, no watch, no paper allowed. The paper started on time and the invigilators made sure there was zero malpractice. The question paper was offline OMR-based and the duration was 120 minutes.

Exam Pattern & Level

SectionNumber of QuestionsDifficulty Level
Technical (Trade Related)60Moderate to Difficult
General Knowledge10Easy
Reasoning15Moderate
Mathematics / Aptitude15Moderate

The trade-related questions covered most weightage. If someone is strong in technical, they will score well.

Question Quality

  • Technical part had conceptual and practical-based questions.

  • GK was standard — recent events, Constitution, general science facts.

  • Reasoning & Aptitude were not lengthy but required accuracy.

  • Time was sufficient if you don’t get stuck on technical questions.

My Preparation vs Actual Paper

Even after preparing from NCVT books and previous year paper sets, some questions were tricky and industrial-practice based. Candidates who have real workshop experience or previous apprenticeship exposure will find it easier.

Expected Cutoff 2025 (Based on This Year’s Competition)

CategoryExpected Cutoff (Out of 100)
General72 – 78
OBC68 – 72
SC/ST60 – 65
EWS70 – 75

The cutoff may go slightly higher in units where number of seats are fewer.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the BHEL apprentice exam was fair, well-organized, and competitive. Technical knowledge plays the biggest role. If you are preparing, focus more on trade subjects and don’t ignore aptitude and reasoning.

This exam is a great opportunity if you are starting your career through PSUs. With the right study plan and previous year practice, selection is absolutely possible.
